Began in 1941
It’s an old tradition, the Weed Show, started in 1941, and now held in the 29 Palms Historical Society headquarters near the famous Joshua Tree Inn. There were more than 100 entries this year, in 12 different categories. Locals put a lot of work collecting materials from the desert, both manmade and local flora, hence the name “weed” show. I served as a judge this year, and here are some of the winning entries, and some of the volunteers who staffed the show.
