Pioneer Town

It looks like a movie set because it was one.

This is Pioneer Town, located above Yucca Valley, about 50 miles from Palm Springs, CA. The movie set was developed by Roy Rogers and Gene Autry after WWII. Many films from that era were shot here. The bowling alley provided entertainment for the actors, extras and film crews. There is a nearby restaurant and motels where visitors can capture shows on the weekends that recreate the wild west, and enjoy the clean air. I live about 20 miles further east from Pioneer Town, in Joshua Tree.
